Benjamin Bratt has scored the series regular role of gang leader Parco Delgado alongside Rosario Dawson in HBO Max’s pilot for their DC/Vertigo Comic series adaptation “DMZ”. The story is set in the near future where America is embroiled in a bitter civil war, leaving Manhattan a demilitarized zone, destroyed and isolated from the rest of the world. Dawson plays a fierce medic who saves lives while desperately searching for her lost son.

Superman & Lois
Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin are set to respectively play Jonathan and Jordan, the teenage sons of Clark/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch), in The CW’s straight-to-series drama “Superman & Lois”. Jonathan is said to be clean-cut, modest and kind-hearted. Jordan is wildly intelligent but shy and mercurial. The series is being readied for this Fall.

Star Trek: Picard
Amirah Vann (“Queen Sugar,” “How to Get Away with Murder”) will play Zani in CBS All Access’ “Star Trek: Picard”. Vann’s character is a member of the Qowat Milat, a fierce all-female Romulan religious order who live on the colony planet of Vashti and has a key role in the life of Elnor (Evan Evagora). She’ll appear through the second half of the shows ten episode first season which is currently airing. [Source: Deadline]

Walker, Texas Ranger
The CW’s “Walker, Texas Ranger” reboot seems to be utilising some of the better talent the network has whose shows are finishing this year. Lindsey Morgan, who plays Raven on the soon to finish “The 100,” will play the female lead and partner to soon to finish “Supernatural” star Jared Padalecki in the title role.

Morgan plays Micki, one of the first female rangers in Texas Rangers history who has been assigned to work with Cordell Walker. She comes from a Texan lineage and has had stints in the Army and cops. The series has been given a full-season order and aims to air this Fall.

The Witcher
Carmel Laniado (“Dolittle”) has joined the second season of Netflix fantasy hit “The Witcher” in a supporting role. She will appear in at least three episodes as Violet, a young girl whose playful and whimsical demeanour is a front for a smarter and more sadistic character. Shooting gets underway this month in the UK and Eastern Europe.

Midnight Mass
Zach Gilford, Kate Siegel, Samantha Sloyan, Robert Longstreet, Annabeth Gish, Henry Thomas, Hamish Linklater, Michael Trucco, Rahul Kohli, Kristin Lehman, Crystal Balint, Matt Biedel, Alex Essoe, Rahul Abburi, Igby Rigney and Annarah Shephard have all joined Mike Flanagan’s seven-episode thriller series “Midnight Mass” for Netflix. The story centers on an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events (and frightening omens) after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest. Flanagan helms all seven episodes.

J.K. Simmons and Bruce Dern have joined the cast of Amazon Prime Video’s fourth and final season of the Billt Bob Thornton-led “Goliath” – likely serving as this season’s antagonists. Simmons will portray George Zax, head of a family-owned and operated pharmaceutical company. Dern will play his brother Frank, a scientific genius and ostracized black sheep of the Zax family.

The Gilded Age
Emmy Award-winning actress Jeanne Tripplehorn has signed on for a major recurring role in HBO’s period drama series “The Gilded Age” which is set in 1880s New York City. Tripplehorn will play Sylvia Chamberlain, a famous art collector entirely excluded from high society because of her suspected past. Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Amanda Peet, Taissa Farmiga and Morgan Spector co-star.

Pieces of Her
Toni Collette is set to headline Netflix’s dramatic thriller series “Pieces of Her” based on the 2018 book by bestselling crime author Karin Slaughter. Minkie Spiro is set to direct the eight-episode series with Charlotte Stoudt serving as showrunner. Set in a sleepy Georgia town, a random act of violence sets off an unexpected chain of events for 30-year-old Andy Oliver and her mother Laura (Collette).

Inventing Anna
Jennifer Esposito is set for a key role opposite Julia Garner and Anna Chlumsky in Netflix’s ten-episode drama limited series “Inventing Anna” from Shonda Rhimes. David Frankel is directing and executive producing the series about the con artist Anna Delvey who pretended to be an Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene. Esposito will play Talia Mallay, the famous owner of a lavish lifestyle brand who excels at the social game.

O’Shea Jackson is now set to star in the Apple TV+ drama series “Swagger,” Jackson taking over the role from Winston Duke after he suffered an injury on set which forced him to drop out of the show. Inspired by NBA champion Kevin Durant, the show explores the world of youth basketball. Jackson will star as Ike, a coach and former star player. The series will be written and directed by Reggie Rock Bythewood, who will also serve as executive producer and showrunner.
