Emmy-nominated composer Brian Tyler is currently hard at work creating the sounds of the Mushroom Kingdom in the upcoming “Super Mario Bros. Movie” and today posted photos from a scoring session currently underway.
Tyler says in his caption “An amazing day recording The Super Mario Bros. Movie orchestra and choir! So excited for everyone to see this unbelievably amazing”. From the looks of it they’re going suitably large to capture what’s required for the score.
Having already worked on scores for the likes of “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers” and “Scream” this year, Tyler faces his biggest challenge to date with this film due to the utterly iconic music of the original game series and the high expectations of the audience.
Helping him along though is longtime Mario composer Koji Kondo, who’s responsible for Mario’s theme and is also on board to help adapt the music.
“Teen Titans GO!” creators Aaron Horvath and Michael Jenelic direct and Matthew Fogel writes the film which stars Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Anya Taylor-Joy, Fred Armisen, Charlie Day, Kevin Michael Richardson, Sebastian Maniscalco, and Seth Rogen.
“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” opens April 7th.
