Filmmaker James Gunn has confirmed that the upcoming “The Suicide Squad” will feature a post-credits sequence.
The news joins several other bits of information about the movie that have emerged in recent days. Gunn writes on Twitter that he loves post-credits scene but adds “they’re always an afterthought, a snack, not the main course.”
He then goes on to say he doesn’t like the hype around crossovers and cameos in films: “I find it disconcerting at times that many folks seem more interested in crossovers, cameos, references & post-credit scenes than they do the actual story & characters of a specific film!. When making a film I spend 99.9% of my time thinking about story & character & .1% the rest.”
The movie is fully complete with the official runtime clocking in at 2 hours and 12 minutes. Gunn also says he “casually talked to the powers-that-be at both Marvel & DC” about a possible crossover. Could it happen? “I don’t think it’s likely, but I don’t think it’s an impossibility either.”
Finally, John Cena talked up the movie with The Observer saying: “The Suicide Squad is neither a sequel nor reboot…People are kind of expecting to be something. But nobody’s ready to see this movie. Everyone needs it in their life, truest me. But nobody’s ready to see what it is. Nobody.”
“The Suicide Squad” arrives both in theaters and on HBO Max starting on August 6th.
