A new report in The New Yorker has revealed that musician Harry Styles was briefly attached to “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse” director Robert Eggers’ remake of F. W. Murnau’s iconic 1922 silent vampire film “Nosferatu”.

Variety subsequently confirmed the news, saying Styles dropped out of the project due to scheduling conflicts. Had he not, he would have co-starred in the film with Anya Taylor-Joy.

Part of the issue was due to the pandemic. Production on Eggers’ Viking epic “The Northman” was delayed by COVID-19 which put his “Nosferatu” remake into something of a holding pattern.

Eggers confirmed earlier this year that he’s still in discussions with Taylor-Joy to do the film, though her commitments to George Miller’s “Furiosa” might impact the schedule. She’s currently filming “The Menu” and will voice Princess Peach in the upcoming animated “Super Mario Bros.” film.

Styles previously starred in “Dunkirk” and briefly appeared in Marvel’s “Eternals”. He’ll soon be seen in Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Worry Darling” and has recently been shooting “My Policeman”. Meanwhile Eggers’ “The Northman” is set to hit cinemas April 22nd, check out a just-released poster below.
