“Studio,” “Penguin,” “Severance” Win Tech Emmys

“The Studio,” “The Penguin,” “Severance,” “Andor,” and “Arcane” were the big winners on the first of the two nights of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

The honors were handed out at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles with most focusing on technical awards like make-up, costumes, visual effects, production design, sound mixing, sound editing along with cinematography and editing.

However there were some major honors handed out too with “Rebel Ridge” winning for Best TV movie and “Arcane” winning for Best Animated Series.

Guest actor winners were also honored with Shawn Hatosy (“The Pitt”) and Merritt Wever (“Severance”) taking the drama categories while Julianne Nicholson (“Hacks”) and Bryan Cranston (“The Studio”) won for the comedy categories.

“The Studio” won nine honors including casting, music supervision, sound mixing, picture editing, sound editing, contemporary costumes, cinematography, production design and that guest star winner.

“The Penguin” took home eight honors for score, sound mixing, sound editing, prosthetic make-up, contemporary make-up, contemporary hairstyling, contemporary costumes and special visual effects.

“Severance” won six honors for cinematography, score, title design, sound mixing and production design along with that guest star winner.

“Andor” landed four wins for fantasy costumes, production design, picture editing and visual effects.

“Arcane” scored four wins including that aforementioned animated series win along with sound editing and two individual achievement honors in animation.

“Bridgerton” took four honors for period hairstyling, period costumes and period make-up along with one for Julie Andrews for her character voice over performance.

“The Boys” won three honors for stunt performance, stunt co-ordination, and original music for the “Let’s Put the Christ Back in Christmas” song.

Other winners include Desi Lydic from “The Daily Show” for short form performer, “Adolescence” for cinematography & casting, “The Pitt” for casting, “The Last of Us” for sound editing, and “Love, Death + Robots” for three individual achievement honors in animation.

There was also “House of the Dragon” for non-prosthetic make-up, “Frasier” for picture editing, “Monsters: The Lyle & Erik Menendez Story” for picture editing, “Étoile” for choreography, “The Righteous Gemstones” for stunt co-ordination, and “The White Lotus” for title music.

The Creative Arts Emmys will continue Sunday with an additional 49 statues to be distributed in the writing, casting, makeup and picture editing categories. They will screen next weekend on FXX.
