Stroma’s Vigilante Set For Gunn’s New DC

Max

The other day DC Studios co-chief James Gunn clarified how his and Peter Safan’s new DC universe would work – effectively saying that canon starts completely afresh with the animated series “Creature Commandos” and the feature film “Superman: Legacy”.

At the same time, he confirmed some actors would be playing the same roles they previously played in the DCEU, albeit in this all new canon. The three he confirmed were Xolo Mariduena as Blue Beetle, John Cena as Peacemaker, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

Now you can add a fourth. Asked about the status of Peacemaker Freddie Stroma’s Vigilante character from the “Peacemaker” series on Threads, Gunn said: “Yes, Freddie [Stroma] as Vigilante is still around.”

The confirmation suggests these aren’t the only ones set to return, but would seem to be the only ones confirmed thus far. It certainly appears as though the core “Peacemaker” cast is back, which would fit in with confirmed “Creature Commandos” cast members like Steve Agee as John Economos and Sean Gunn as Weasel.

Gunn previously said the other day: “I think it’s okay to be confused on what’s happening in the DCU since no one has seen anything from the DCU yet”.

Gunn also elaborated on the status of the new DC universe which appears to have been impacted by the strikes. He says:

“I don’t even know where we are with everything, as I haven’t been able to talk with our writers while this has been happening.

Although I’m very happy with the outcome, the strike was a real wrench in the process for sure, so I’ll have to see where we are on everything for the next couple weeks. But yeah, I’d imagine more news out in the not-too-distant future.”

“Creature Commandos” will be the first of the new DC universe projects, that animated series arriving on Max next year.
