Meryl Streep will play the President of the United States in “The Big Short” and “Anchorman” director Adam McKay’s new ensemble comedy “Don’t Look Up”.
Streep was previously announced as part of the film’s massive cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, Timothee Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Matthew Perry, Himesh Patel, Tomer Sisley, Tyler Perry, Melanie Lynskey, and Ron Perlman.
However her role was unknown at the time. Now it has been revealed by Streep herself whilst appearing on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” as has Hill’s role as her character’s son who is also her Chief of Staff.
The story follows two low-level astronomers, who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy planet earth. Describing the film, Streep says: “it’s sort of funny, like Dr. Strangelove for 2020, about global warming – a metaphor for that.” She adds she had her first scene last week.
