Streamers Vying For “Batman: Caped Crusader”

Streamers Vying For Batman Caped Crusader
HBO Max

Earlier this week came the news that HBO Max was dropping its planned “Batman: The Caped Crusader” animated series along with five other projects.

Those five included “Merry Little Batman, two Looney Turnes movies, an “The Amazing World of Gumball” movie and a Steve Urkel holiday special.

Now a follow-up piece at THR indicates that the J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm-produced “Caped Crusader,” which is aiming for a slightly older audience than the others, remains in production.

In fact all six projects are still in various stages of production, and the plan remains very much to produce all the projects – but sell them on to other outlets. This marks a major shift away from the previous corporate regime’s strategy which was to feed the HBO Max content maw.

According to the report, “Caped Crusader” is already receiving intense interest from at least four major streamers with Apple, Hulu and Netflix all said to be in the mix. Thus it’s almost certainly going to hit screens at some point.
