Stranger Things Sets S4 Dates Final Season

It’s official, Netflix’s smash hit “Stranger Things” is coming to an end.

The streaming giant has announced that the series, which first premiered back in 2016, has been renewed for a fifth and final season.

In addition, the long-awaited fourth season will be split in half and will air in two ‘volumes’ this year – the first on May 27th and the second on July 1st. Thus it is hitting a full three years after the third season debuted in July 2019.

Co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer posted an open letter to fans explaining the split – saying it results from the fact the nine-episode fourth season clocks in at a total runtime twice as long as that of any previous season.

The pair have indicated the series’ full arc was never expected to be more than five seasons when they first envisioned the show going beyond a single season.

The pair also teased spin-offs: “There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things: new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first we hope you stay with us as we finish this tale.”
