The first teaser trailer for the soon to arrive “Stranger Things” prequel stage play “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” has been released.
Set to have its world premiere at the Phoenix Theater in London’s West End in late 2023, Netflix seems to confirm that the play will include clues about the upcoming fifth and final season of the hit series, which hasn’t yet begun filming.
The story unfolds in Hawkins in 1959. It’s a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town.
When troubled new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach.
For those who’ve seen the full four seasons so far, that year will be familiar – it’s the year of the killing spree that Henry Creel (aka. Vecna) went on in which he murdered much of his own family.
“Stranger Things: The First Shadow” will be directed by Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, with Kate Trefry signing on to pen the play. It is based on an original story by Jack Thorne and series creators Matt and Ross Duffer.
Casting will be announced at a later date.
