After nearly a three year gap, the fourth season of “Stranger Things” finally arrives on Netflix this May and will see the core group of characters having grown up somewhat.
With that change, the tone of the series is also growing up. Co-creator Ross Duffer says as they don’t have kids in the main cast anymore, they can’t do a riff on “The Goonies” any longer.
As a result, he tells Netflix’s TUDUM publication: “Suddenly, we’re leaning much harder into that horror movie territory that we love. It was fun to make that change.”
The new run begins six months since the Battle of Starcourt. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time while a new supernatural threat surfaces.
Duffer says some fan theories circulating online are ‘startlingly’ accurate: “I’m constantly impressed with how sharp the fans are, and how quickly they’re able to put something together with very, very little information.”
The fourth season is split into two volumes – the first arriving on May 27th, the second just over a month later on July 1st.
And on Day 65, we got our first look at ST4. (this is just a taste of the eggo. link in bio to https://t.co/sdbq7ANsMx for full extravaganza.) pic.twitter.com/XvNnd88vLL
