A new report over at Puck News indicates the two-hour series finale of Netflix’s supernatural smash hit “Stranger Things” is coming to cinemas.

The final season is being split into three parts staring November 26th with the final episode scheduled to air on New Year’s Eve.

As a result, the outlet claims the feature-length episode will debut in AMC and other theater chains on the same day, with the release seen as an event, such as the “KPop Demon Hunters” singalong version getting a theatrical release.

Last week, a report in Variety indicated series co-creator Matt Duffer really wanted a theatrical release for the finale, but Netflix’s chief creative officer, Bela Bajari, shot the idea down, saying, “I think releasing it on Netflix is giving the fans what they want”.

The new report says that the interview was made weeks ago and well before the deal was in place. The deals are reportedly not signed yet, but writer Matthew Belloni says it’s “happening”.

Duffer also spoke with Empire recently, where he confirmed Joseph Quinn will not be returning at all in the final season as the slain Eddie Munson.

He says: “No, he [Eddie] is dead… everyone should know he’s not coming back. He [Quinn] has shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.”
