Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man was reportedly originally set to cameo in Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” that is until COVID and delays to Marvel’s production pipeline put a halt to that.
Costume designer Graham Churchyard has recently revealed in a video interview at Twitter@ScarletWitchUpd that both Doctor Strange and America Chavez were intended to be part of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
At the same time, Holland’s Spider-Man was to make a brief cameo appearance in ‘Multiverse of Madness’ which was also originally slated to open before ‘No Way Home’.
The release order was reversed due to the disruptions caused by COVID-19 – the Spider-Man film ultimately arriving December 2021 and the ‘Strange’ sequel hitting in May 2022.
As originally planned, the ‘Strange’ sequel would’ve gone first in May 2021 where America Chavez is introduced and Strange scores his new outfit.
The brief cameo by Holland’s character would then have led into “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in its original planned July 2021 release with Chavez serving as the character able to bring in the Spider-Man variants in ‘No Way Home’.
When the dates swapped, “Spider-Man” changed up its plan and had the Ned Leeds character handling the scenes America Chavez was originally earmarked for.
It’s expected Holland and Cumberbatch will be back in their respective roles, but it’s not clear when and where yet.
