Stephen Graham, Harris Dickinson, Erin Kellyman, Kathy Burke, Elliot Heffernan and Paul Weller are reportedly all set to join Saoirse Ronan in the period war drama “Blitz” which hails from British filmmaker Steve McQueen (“Widows,” “12 Years A Slave,” “Hunger”).
The film will focus on the eight-month bombing campaign of England in 1940-1941 by Germany’s Luftwaffe. It was seen as a defining moment of WW2 for the country, which endured major civilian casualties.
Lammas Park, Apple Studios, New Regency, and Working Title are backing the project that just began production in London. McQueen is coming off his anthology film series “Small Axe”.
“Blitz” will join other potential awards contenders on the way from Apple Studios in the near future, including Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of The Flower Moon” and Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon”.
