Starz To Rebrand Overseas As Lionsgate+

Starz is set to rebrand itself as Lionsgate+ in 35 countries, but will remain Starz in North America.

The changeover will happen officially tomorrow (September 29th) and will impact much of Europe, Central and South America, Australia, Japan and the UK.

The change comes as STARZ and the Lionsgate studio business are currently going through a separation with a number of media entities rumored to be interested in acquiring Starz. A sale is expected before the end of this year.

Lionsgate acquired Starz for $4.4 billion in 2016 and the cable network and streaming service has been growing fast. It is the home of such series as “Outlander,” “Black Sails,” “Spartacus,” and the various “Power” series.

The news comes as Starz has released the full trailer today for its new series adaptation of the Pierre Choderlos de Laclos classic “Dangerous Liaisons” with the eight-episode series to make its debut on November 6th. That trailer can be viewed here.
