Starz has announced it has cancelled four of its series, most notably the Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig-led wrestling drama “Heels” after two seasons.
The show aired its second season finale just over a week ago with that finale episode drawing in only half the viewership that tuned into the first season finale according to TVSeriesFinale.com.
Also not going forward is the Harlem-set “Run the World” and the TV series continuation of the film “Blindspotting,” which have both been axed after two seasons – both wrapped airing their second seasons in July and May, respectively.
Additionally, the Katherine Langford-led new series “The Venery of Samantha Bird,” which was much of the way through production before being paused by the strike WGA strike, is being scrapped unaired. Reportedly only two episodes of the first season were left to shoot.
The cancellations leave Starz with only a handful of original programming left, most notably the three “Power” spin-off shows and flagship series “Outlander” which has already confirmed its eighth season in 2025 will be its last.
Renewals were handed out last year or earlier this year for a second season of “The Serpent Queen” and third seasons of “BMF,” “Hightown” and “P-Valley”. A second season of “Shining Vale” premieres on October 13th.
