Bethesda has announced that its sci-fi RPG title has become one of the biggest new releases of the year.
In fact, the company has announced that the game has already surpassed six million players – making it the biggest launch ever for a Bethesda game to date – surpassing both “Fallout 4” and “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim”.
Though the game officially went wide on September 6th, the game has been available for around a week in early access to those who purchased premium editions of the title.
That early access period reportedly brought in over 2 million players worldwide. A big draw, however, was also that the game is freely available for Game Pass subscribers on the Xbox and PC platforms – thus it’s not clear how many actually purchased the title.
On the day of its global release, “Starfield” also reportedly peaked at over one million concurrent players across all platforms.
The game has drawn very strong reviews with an 87/100 on Metacritic for the PC version and an 86/100 for the Xbox version. User scores are lower at 5.1/10 and 5.8/10 respectively.
“Starfield” is now available for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
