Microsoft has announced it’ll be holding this year’s Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday June 11th, taking the pre-E3 Sunday slot even as the gaming giant reportedly won’t be participating in this year’s E3.
That Showcase is expected to show off Microsoft’s larger slate for the year to come, and will be followed by a special direct presentation focused specifically on Bethesda Softworks’ highly anticipated “Starfield”.
The news comes as Bethesda has just announced that “Starfield” has been delayed again – pushed out from an unspecified date in the first half of this year to a more specific September 6th launch date. A video announcing the new date has been released and can be seen below.
What titles will be shown off at the Showcase this year isn’t clear. “Forza Motorsport” is a certainty, as is “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2”, with the hope that we’ll finally get updates on titles like “Avowed,” “Hellblade 2” and the “Perfect Dark” reboot.
Last year’s Showcase proved a bit of a fizzer as the biggest titles Xbox showed off were third-party ones available everywhere including “Atomic Heart,” “Callisto Protocol,” “Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty,” and “Gotham Knights” among others.
This coming May’s release of “Redfall” will be the only major AAA Xbox exclusive (not including smaller titles like “Scorn,” “Grounded,” “Pentiment”) from last year’s slate preview to get a release in the planned twelve month time period.
