“Star Wars” Urban, Darksaber & Edge VR Talk

A couple of small “Star Wars” stories today worth a look.

First up, “The Boys” and “Star Trek” star Karl Urban has revealed he cameoed as a stormtrooper in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”. The scene features two stormtroopers watching the Knights of Ren walk past them down a hallway.

Urban tells Digital Spy he visited J.J. Abrams while he was shooting ‘Skywalker’ and so Abrams got Urban to put on a stormtrooper uniform and shoot a scene. The actor’s voice made the cut, his only line being “Knights of Ren.”

Next up, actor Giancarlo Esposito tells Deadline that not only will the upcoming second season of “The Mandalorian” pick up on that final scene with his Moff Gideon character unfurling his ‘Darksaber,’ but many of the questions that came from that appearance will be answered quickly.

The Darksaber was last seen in the hands of Bo-Katan Kryze from “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” with her character expected to make her live-action debut in the new “Mandalorian” episodes. Esposito says:

“You’ll see more of the Darksaber, you’ll get the explanation of this ancient weapon to the modern world, a collapsed world. Where did this saber come from and how was it revived? It’s a key in our second season, which will be back sooner than later. (The saber) is a key to Moff Gideon’s past, which possibly has a lot to do with where he comes from and his desire to build a planet and bring it back together.”

Finally, Lucasfilm’s ILMxLAB has released a trailer for another Star Wars VR project – this time centered around the Black Spire Outpost locale at the center of the Disney theme park land “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge”. Titled “Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge.” the game will be coming to the Oculus Quest sometime later this year.

You play a droid repair technician who crash lands on Batuu after a pirate attack and gets swept up into a grand adventure on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost. Check out the clip below:
