“Star Wars: The Acolyte” Filming News

One of the more anticipated “Star Wars” TV series currently in the works is “The Acolyte,” a female-centric action thriller with martial arts elements set during the wane of the High Republic – a century before the prequel trilogy.

“Russian Doll” co-creator Leslye Headland is serving as showrunner of the series which we know has been in full pre-production, but now some further filming details have emerged.

First up, The Bespin Bulletin has announced that filming on the series is set to begin this month and will run all the way through to May next year.

What that means for a potential air date is unclear, but with a series like “Obi-Wan Kenobi” arriving on the Disney+ service around eight months after filming wrapped, it seems likely ‘The Acolyte’ won’t premiere until early 2024.

That won’t be a huge issue with “The Mandalorian” Season 3 coming in February 2023, whilst the currently well-into-filming “Ahsoka” and “Skeleton Crew” are expected to have their debuts in the back half of 2023 which would allow for “The Acolyte” and “Andor” Season 2 to arrive in 2024.

The site also has photos showing off an outdoor set being constructed at Shinfield Studios in Berkshire in the UK. Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-Jae will star in the series.
