The highly anticipated yet troubled remake of video game classic “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” has found a new home, the project being moved from previous Texas-based developer Aspyr Media to Saber Interactive’s Eastern Europe studios according to Bloomberg.
The report follows on from those in May indicating that Aspyr was relieved of development duties after its owner Embracer Group AB, and production partners Lucasfilm and Sony, were all reportedly displeased with the progress of the game under its direction.
At the time Embracer confirmed Aspyr’s parent company Saber was also working on the game. Then, late last week, Embracer seemingly confirmed that one of its AAA games had switched developers with this statement expected to be referring to the ‘Knights’ remake.
The game had been in development for three years at Aspyr and while Embracer says it’s not “expecting any material delays”, sources for the outlet indicate it will likely take at least two more years to finish.
Embracer is coming off mixed reviews for developer Deep Silver’s “Saints Row” reboot which launched this week and scored just 64/100 on Metacritic.
