A week ahead of its debut on the Disney+ service, “Ahsoka” has announced the line-up of which directors handled which episodes in its eight-episode series and potential first season.
First up, series creator Dave Filoni will take the helm of the first and fifth episodes, whilst “The Mandalorian” alum Rick Famuyiwa will direct the finale.
Oscar nominee Steph Green (“Watchmen”) joins for the second and third episodes. “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” co-director Peter Ramsey tackles the fourth, “Mad Men” alum Jennifer Getzinger helms the sixth, and “House of the Dragon” director Geeta Vasant Patel directs the seventh.
Set after her appearances in “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett,” the series follows Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) as she investigates an emerging threat to the galaxy following the fall of the Empire.
The show serves as a live-action continuation to the animated series “Star Wars Rebels,” though that series is not required viewing prior to watching. The new series was developed by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni for Disney+.
The cast includes Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Wes Chatham as Captain Enoch, David Tennant as the voice of Huyang, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker.
Dave Filoni wrote all eight episodes. The series will start streaming on August 23rd with the first two episodes.
