Today is First Contact Day, the annual celebration of the “Star Trek” franchise, which is tied to the date April 5th – the in-canon day in 2063 when Zephram Cochrane activates his warp ship for the first time.
To celebrate, Paramount+ has released a set of new character posters for the upcoming second season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”. The one-sheets come well ahead of the show’s return on June 15th.
The posters include Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Una ‘Number One’ Chin-Riley, Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock, Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’an Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura, Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas.
Clocking in at ten episodes, the new season will see the return of guest Star Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk and has Carol Kane joining in a recurring role as Pelia.
Otherwise, it will continue the first season’s format of mostly standalone episodes with some ongoing smaller story threads. One will be a crossover episode with “Star Trek: Lower Decks”.
The series has already been officially renewed for a ten-episode third season, with filming on that to begin soon.
