In a big bit of surprise news, Paramount+ has announced that the highly anticipated episode of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” that crosses over with the animated series “Star Trek: Lower Decks” is coming early.
In fact, following the episode’s advanced screening during San Diego Comic-Con, the streamer has announced that the episode will be going live tonight from 7pm US-ET/4pm US-PT on the Paramount+ service.
With this seventh episode of the second season debuting early, the release schedule for the rest of the season has shifted as well, with episode eight now taking this coming Thursday’s slot.
In addition, the nature of the much hinted-at ninth episode has been revealed – it’s a musical episode that marks a first for the “Star Trek” franchise. It will air on August 3rd.
The episode boasts ten original songs, plus a special version of the series’ main title with music and lyrics by Kay Hanley and Tom Polce (“Letters to Cleo”). A teaser for that episode has also been released and can be seen below.
The season finale “Hegemony,” which is expected to be a Gorn-themed big finale episode, is now set to air on August 10th.
