Stahelski To Direct Orton To Pen Shibumi
Lionsgate

Matthew Orton (“Moon Knight,” “Operation Finale”) has been set to pen the assassin thriller “Shibumi,” an adaptation of author Trevanian’s 1979 novel, at Warner Bros. Pictures.

In addition, Chad Stahelski (“John Wick”), who was originally attached to just produce, will now also direct the project, which is in development.

The story details the struggle between the highly skilled assassin named Nicholai Hel, and the ‘Mother Company’ – a secret conspiracy of energy corporations that control much of the Western world.

The novel was reportedly a childhood favourite of Stahelski and he was intrigued at the prospect of adapting it after the studio came to him. Alex Young and Jason Spitz will produce.

Stahelski is wrapping up post-production on a fourth “John Wick” and remains attached to helm the film adaptation of the PlayStation video game “Ghost of Tsushima” at Sony Pictures.
