“Squid Game” leading man Lee Jung-Jae has scored the male lead role in the new Disney+ “Star Wars” series “The Acolyte” at Lucasfilm.
Amandla Steinberg is set for the other lead role in the project whilst Jodi Smith-Turner was also announced as recently joining the cast.
Leslye Headland serves as the series director, writer, executive producer and showrunner on the project, which aimed to put together a diversified ensemble of formidable talent.
The mystery-thriller series unfolds in the final days of the High Republic era, several generations before the Skywalkers, and takes viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers.
This marks the first major studio role of the breakout star of Netflix’s massive hit and comes ahead of a potentially historic night for him at the Emmys.
