Oh Yeong-su, the 78-year-old veteran Korean actor who won a Golden Globe for his performance in Netflix smash hit “Squid Game,” has reportedly been indicted on sexual misconduct charges in Korea.
The case was investigated by local authorities beginning in December and was considered closed in April this year until it was reportedly re-opened by prosecutors earlier this week at the accuser’s request.
The claims relate to an alleged inappropriate touching incident from 2017 involving Oh and an anonymous woman. Oh has denied the allegations and provided additional context for the event in question, saying in a translated statement to Korean broadcaster JTBC:
“I just held her hand to guide the way around the lake. I apologized because [the person] said she wouldn’t make a fuss about it, but it doesn’t mean that I admit the charges.”
Agence France-Presse broke the news and quoted an unnamed Korean court official who warned about misinformation surrounding the case, saying: “Everything reported by local media is not factually correct.”
