“Spotlight” director Tom McCarthy has been set to direct “S-Town,” the film adaptation of the popular true crime podcast, which has been set up at Participant.
The podcast follows a journalist who is asked to investigate John B. McLemore, the son of a wealthy family that is allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder in the small town of Woodstock, Alabama.
McCarthy will work from a script by playwright Samuel D. Hunter, who scripted stage productions like “A Bright New Boise” and “The Whale”.
