Sony and Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Far from Home” is projected to hit a total of $1.109 billion at the global box-office by the end of Sunday reports Deadline.
When it does so, the ‘Homecoming’ sequel will swing past James Bond feature “Skyfall” to become Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing global release ever.
It is also the only non-Disney title to cross $1 billion globally this year so far, and the No. 2 Hollywood movie of the year in China behind only “Avengers: Endgame”. ‘Far from Home’ has a split of $376 million domestic and $733 million international.
Spidey isn’t the only hero breaking records though as Box-Office Mojo reports that “Dark Phoenix” has officially ended its theatrical run and has clocked in a final worldwide gross of $252.2 million. That’s easily the lowest “X-Men” film grosser, behind the first “X-Men” in 2000 with $296.3 million.
“Dark Phoenix” had an estimated production budget of $200 million so its a costly flop for Fox and Disney. The film comes to Digital HD on September 3rd and Blu-ray/DVD on September 17th.
