After confusion and speculation in the hours since its announcement, Insomniac Games has now cleared up reports about the PS5 title “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales”.
In the wake of yesterday’s trailer, the obvious question was raised as to whether the game was an entirely new title or just DLC tied to PS4’s “Marvel’s Spider-Man”.
Sony Interactive Entertainment EVP head of European Business, Simon Rutter, didn’t clear up matters – calling it an “expansion” and an “enhancement to the previous game” which led to claims it’s simply a PS5 remaster of PS4’s “Spider-Man” with some extra content thrown in.
Insomniac has now shot down that report, saying on Twitter: “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is the next adventure in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe. We will reveal more about this standalone game at a future date.”
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has also cleared up the story – saying the game isn’t DLC or an expansion and it’s not a full “Spider-Man 2” either.
Instead it’s more comparable to “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy” or “Infamous: First Light” – a spin-off standalone game with significantly smaller story than its predecessor but also only a fraction of the price. It’s effectively a smaller scale adventure in-between the larger games.
“Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales” arrives Christmas 2020.
