Warner Bros. Pictures debuted the first trailer for “Space Jam: A New Legacy” over the weekend, a movie which takes place partly in the “Warner 3000 Server-verse” where LeBron James and the Looney Tunes play their big match.
As a result, characters from Warner Bros. movies and TV show vault appear throughout and the studio has now released a little Easter egg hunt video to point out some of the details you might have missed.
The trailer certainly raised some eyebrows over the weekend when people noticed the inclusion of the rapist characters from “A Clockwork Orange” amongst the fray – an odd inclusion considering the fuss made over skunk Pepe Le Pew’s cameo being cut from the film.
The clip however is more concerned with other references including “Game of Thrones,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “The Maltese Falcon,” both the animated “Batman” and “Superman” series, and at least two versions of “The Penguin” along with “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Wonder Woman,” “Scooby Doo,” “The Flintstones,” “Thundercats,” “Jabberjaw,” “Magilla Gorilla,” “Yogi Bear” and “Kong: Skull Island”.
Malcolm D. Lee directs from a script by Juel Taylor, Tony Rettenmaier, Keenan Coogler and Terence Nance. “Space Jam: A New Legacy” arrives in theaters and on HBO Max from July 16th.
