With the United States passing China in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, cities are considering more serious measures to try and keep the pandemic under control.
Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti tells THR this week that the city is exploring all options to help avoid the city’s hospital system from being overrun in the coming months.
One such plan involves setting up makeshift hospitals in locations such as Hollywood sound stages. Studio sound stages are ideal as the already have their own ventilation, have the ability to hang medical equipment, and are all currently empty due to productions being put on hold.
Representatives from movie studios have reportedly already reached out about the possibility.
