Sony Pictures Television – Kids is reportedly developing animated takes on the classic sitcoms “Bewitched”.
Dubbed “Hannah Montana meets Harry Potter,” the “Bewitched” update would focus on Tabitha Stevens, the thirteen-year-old daughter of witch Samantha and human Darrin.
She must juggle two lives whilst attending middle school while also being secretly enrolled in a magical academy run by her grandmother, Endora.
The original “Bewitched” ran from 1964-72 and has been a long-running hit syndication. It also spawned a 2005 feature film starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell.
Various attempts at reboot were made in the 2010s, but none of them made it to series.
In addition, Sony Pictures Television – Kids is also developing an animated “The Partridge Family” and early takes on kid-centric versions of “Wheel of Fortune” and “Shark Tank”.
“The Partridge Family” update would focus on a Black family from Brooklyn’s Bed-Stuy neighbourhood that operates a food truck. They travel throughout New York’s five boroughs to serve up treats and tunes.
Both animated projects are in early development and did not have writers attached prior to the currently ongoing strike.
