Paramount Pictures has announced “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” the official title for the upcoming sequel to 2020’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” film adaptation.
Grossing $319 million worldwide and scoring solid reviews, the first film starred Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik as well as James Marsden and Tika Sumpter along with Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Speaking with ComicBook.com, Schwartz confirmed filming would begin shortly but he doesn’t know the specific dates and records his voice work after they’ve shot the live-action footage.
Of the sequel, the only confirmed thing is the title, that Sonic’s flying two-tailed fox buddy Tails is in it, and that the film is targeting an April 8th 2022 release. There are rumors that red echidna Knuckles is also in it with Jason Momoa offered the role, but none of that has been confirmed.
