Both filmmaker Zack Snyder and DC Studios chief James Gunn have participated in an episode of Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty” which aired last night.
The pair guest-star as over-the-top versions of themselves in a scene set in the Warner Bros. Commissary and the pair debate Superman.
Executive producer Scott Marder tells Variety: “They were good sports. Both of those guys sort of implied that this is the show they watch when they have downtime. So they were thrilled to get to be a part of the world, and there was no pushback or bristling. If anything, they laughed at anything we threw at them. There were probably, frankly, even more digs and more silly things we could have used. All they did was laugh it off.”
The appearance takes jibes at the pair’s differing tone for the Superman character, Snyder’s physical fitness, even has a swipe at Chris Nolan’s “Interstellar”.
Gunn reportedly made sure to find time to stop by and do his lines in the episode the morning after he finished principal production on “Superman”.
It also finally clears up that photo that the pair took together that went viral online a few months back, it was snapped right after their recording.
