Originally there were no plans to do any additional filming, but that appears to have changed as Heat Vision reports that filmmaker Zack Snyder will roll cameras for his extended cut of 2017’s “Justice League” next month.
The additional photography will last around a week or a little more and reportedly is being done to help turn the ‘Snyder Cut’ into the recently announced four-episode limited series for the HBO Max service in 2021.
The new filming is expected to bring back Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg for new scenes.
Fisher’s involvement is of note as he is currently involved in a very public dispute with Warner Bros. Pictures over behavior on the set of the previous reshoots for the film several years ago which were handled by Joss Whedon. Fisher is reportedly in talks with Warner Bros. to make a cameo in “The Flash” movie due to shoot next year.
Veteran actor Ciaran Hinds, who voices Steppenwolf in the films, recently spoke with the NME about Snyder returning to recut his film and says he’s all for it:
“It was his dream to realize it, and I think it’s fantastic that he’s got this opportunity to realize what he wanted to do in the first space. He has the chance to recreate what he wanted to do, and I hope it stands up to the trial its been given”
“Zack Snyder’s Justice League” will premiere on HBO Max sometime in 2021.
