Phil Alden Robinson (“Sneakers,” “Field of Dreams”) is set to pen the untitled heist thriller that J.J. Abrams has set up at Paramount Pictures says The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on a Wired magazine article, the true story will deal with the small group of Italian thieves who got around ten layers of security to access a vault beneath the Antwerp Diamond Center in Belgium.
The gang made off diamonds, gold and jewelry said to be in excess of $100 million. The article’s author Joshua Davis scored multiple interviews with those involved over a six-year span.
