“Smile” Producers Plan “Clown in a Cornfield”

Warner Bros. Pictures

The producers of Paramount’s hit horror thriller “Smile” are lining up the next project in the genre with the rather self-descriptive title “Clown In A Cornfield”.

Temple Hill Entertainment (“The Maze Runner,” “Love Simon”) is backing the project, which centers on a fading midwestern town, in which Frendo the clown – a symbol of bygone success – re-emerges as a terrifying scourge.

“Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil” director Eli Craig will helm the project whilst Carter Blanchard is adapting Adam Cesare’s novel of the same name. Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will produce.

The news comes as “Smile” is nearing a worldwide gross of $200 million.
