Paramount Pictures has announced an October 18th 2024 release date for a sequel to last year’s surprise horror hit “Smile”. The project was made directly for streaming but was then upgraded to a theatrical release.

The film was considered one of the most profitable movies of last year, pulling in $216 million globally from a $17 million budget and making its filmmaker Parker Finn one to watch.

In addition, the studio has locked in a January 12th 2024 release date for the musical adaptation of “Mean Girls”.

That project was originally going to be a straight-to-Paramount+ film, but now will get a theatrical run. Angourie Rice, Auli’i Cravalho, Jaquel Spivey and Reneé Rapp star.

Finally, the animated “Tiger’s Apprentice” which was initially intended for cinemas will now release on the Paramount+ service.

Henry Golding, Sandra Oh and Michelle Yeoh star in the adaptation of the children’s book about a Chinese American boy who discovers that he is part of a long lineage of magical protectors. He must bring the estranged Zodiac animal warriors back together as a unified team.
