Apple TV+ remains very committed to its highly acclaimed and darkly comedic espionage series “Slow Horses”.
The streaming giant has handed out a renewal for a seventh season of the Gary Oldman-led series, an extremely early renewal considering the fifth season won’t premiere for another few months.
The sixth season renewal order came in October last year, just after the fourth season concluded. With this seventh season renewal, the show officially becomes Apple TV+’s longest-running scripted series in terms of seasons.
Whereas the sixth season is combining the sixth and seventh books “Joe Country” and “Slough House,” the seventh season goes back to a straight single book adaptation with the eighth novel “Bad Actors”.
The six-episode season will follow Oldman’s Lamb and the rest of the Slough House crew as they try to track down a mole inside the British government. Jay Hunt, creative director for Europe at Apple TV+ says in a statement:
“Slow Horses has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humor and high-octane action. I’m delighted viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary’s magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses’ slightly inept spycraft.”
Author Mick Herron will publish his ninth Slough House novel “Clown Town” sometime later this year.
The series is expected to be a serious contender at the upcoming Emmy awards with the show one of the majors likely to get a Best Drama Series nomination alongside “Andor,” “Severance,” “The Diplomat,” “The Last of Us,” “The Pitt” and “The White Lotus”.
