“Slime Rancher” Game To Become A Film

Story Kitchen

Story Kitchen is teaming with game developer Monomi Park to turn the latter’s videogame franchise “Slime Rancher” into a feature film.

The first-person life simulation sandbox game has you starring as rancher Beatrix LeBeau who sets out for a life a long way away from Earth… on the ‘Far, Far Range’.

You must construct her ranch and explore the world of the Far Far Range in order to collect, raise, feed, and breed slimes – gelatinous living organisms of various sizes and characteristics. You’re helped along the way by notes left by the former owner of the ranch.

The title was officially released in 2017 and became one of the highest-rated games on Steam of all time with a 98% positive average score. The game, which scored a sequel last year, boasts over 15 million players worldwide.

Story Kitchen is founded by “John Wick” writer/creator Derek Kolstad, “Sonic the Hedgehog” producer Dmitri M. Johnson, and former APA agent Mike Goldberg.

The same group currently has several game-to-TV series adaptations on the way, including the animated “Tomb Raider” for Netflix, “Splinter Cell” also for Netflix, “It Takes Two” at Amazon, and both “Toejam & Earl” and “Streets of Rage” out on the market.
