Sky has premiered the first trailer for “Django,” a grounded and modern series update of the famed Franco Nero-led 1966 spaghetti western.

The series follows Django (Matthias Schoenaerts), a drifter in late 1800s Texas searching for his lost daughter Sarah (Lisa Vicari) and finding her in the frontier town of New Babylon – a place with demons of its own.

Noomi Rapace plays the ruthless villain Elizabeth Thurman who is focused on destroying New Babylon’s visionary founder John Ellis (Nicholas Pinnock). Jyuddah Jaymes, Eric Kole, Benny O. Arthur, Tom Austen, and Abigal Thorn co-star.

Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli serve as showrunners and co-wrote the series with Max Hurwitz. The show arrives in 2023 on Sky, NOW and Canal+ and is being shopped around internationally.

The show will launch from the Rome Film Festival next month.
