Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment is partnering with game developers Striking Distance Studios and indie game development collective and publisher Krafton (“PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds”) on the previously announced title “The Callisto Protocol”.

First introduced at The Game Awards in December with a cinematic trailer, the single-player, narrative-driven sci-fi survival horror game is something of a spiritual successor to the now-defunct Visceral Games’ beloved “Dead Space” franchise and hails from that franchise’s creator Glen Schofield who is Striking Distance’s CEO.

Set in the year 2320, players must survive the Black Iron Prison and uncover mysteries on Jupiter’s dead moon of Callisto. Schofield says the aim is to make one of the most terrifying games of all time.

Skybound Entertainment owner Kirkman has teased that “The Callisto Protocol” could expand into other areas (like TV, film, merchandise, etc.) the way Kirkman’s creation “The Walking Dead” has.

The game is currently in development with no release date yet planned.
