“Sinners” Star Li Jun Li Joins “The Last of Us”

Warner Bros. Pictures

“Sinners” and “Evil” star Li Jun Li, who will soon be seen in Amazon’s upcoming “Spider-Noir” series, has scored one of the last key roles in the third season of HBO’s “The Last of Us”.

Li will star as Miriam, a Seraphite who is also the mother of siblings Lev (Kyriana Kratter) and Yara (Michelle Mao).

The pair are the biggest new additions, character-wise, to the story as the show’s perspective shifts to Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) across the ‘Days 1-3’ timespan in Seattle. Abby and Lev’s relationship will serve as the core of the season.

Miriam has only a short appearance in the game, though the series could extend that and potentially show off Lev & Yara’s life as Seraphites on the island village briefly glimpsed from a distance in the second season finale as the WLF attacked at the end of Day 3.

She joins other new additions to the cast, including Patrick Wilson as Abby’s father, Jason Ritter as a WLF soldier, Clea DuVall as a Seraphite, and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. taking over the role of Manny.

Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Jeffrey Wright, Bella Ramsey, Isabela Merced, and Gabriel Luna all return from prior seasons. Craig Mazin serves as sole showrunner for the third season.

Filming is currently underway in Canada ahead of an expected 2027 premiere.
