Simon Crane has closed a deal to direct the film adaptation of the Mattel toy line “Hot Wheels” for Legendary Pictures and Roth Films.
The story follows a washed-up Illinois State Trooper who, after a dangerous military device falls into the hands of a criminal, fights the man his father once put behind bars.
Paul Attanasio (“Quiz Show”) is doing a rewrite of a script by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (“Iron Man”). Joe Roth, Palak Patel, and Sam Mercer are producing.
Crane, a top stunt co-ordinator and second-unit director on films like “World War Z” and “Troy”, beat out Juan Carlos Fresnadillo for the gig.
