J.K. Simmons and Nina Arianda (“Venus in Fur”) are in negotiations to join Aaron Sorkin’s drama centered on TV icons Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are in negotiations to play the stars of the influential sitcom “I Love Lucy” in the film, currently titled “Being the Ricardos,” which has been set up at Amazon Studios.
Sorkin wrote the script and is directing the project which unfolds across one production week of “I Love Lucy” wherein Ball and Arnaz face challenges on two fronts – one crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage.
Simmons and Arianda would play actors William Frawley and Vivian Vance respectively. The pair co-starred on the series as Fred and Ethel Mertz, a couple who are best friends to Ball and Arnaz’s characters Lucy and Ricky Ricardo.
Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing and filming aims to begin in April in Los Angeles.
