Two major Apple TV+ sci-fi epic series based on famed novels have both gone on indefinite hiatus due to the current writer’s and actor’s strikes.
The Rebecca Ferguson-led “Silo” is based on Hugh Howey’s trilogy of dystopian novels and has been shooting in Hertfordshire. Premiering earlier this year, it quickly established itself as Apple’s number-one drama series.
According to Deadline, the series had planned to take a break in the UK this week as it switched over sets, but now Apple is “expected to extend the pause until further notice.”
The outlet adds that the third season of its lavish adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s “Foundation” books, starring Jared Harris and Lee Pace, is also expected to be impacted by the strikes.
That third season has been shooting in Prague in the Czech Republic with Skydance Television producing. Apple has yet to officially confirm a third season is coming as the second only just launched on the service on July 14th.
This follows on from Disney+ series “Star Wars: Andor,” which has also been shooting in the UK, having to hit pause on production just a few weeks short of finishing filming on the new run.
