“Shrek 5” Delayed Until June 2027

Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have set a new June 30th 2027 release date for the fifth film in the “Shrek” franchise.

The move delays the project a further six months from the most recent December 23rd 2026 release and a full year from the originally planned July 1st 2026 opening.

The move gets the film out of a packed month next December with “Avengers: Doomsday,” “Dune: Part Three,” “Ice Age 6,” “Jumanji 3,” “Werwulf” and “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew” all hitting.

The movie will still face competition though, opening five days after “Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse”.

Voice cast will include Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona, and Zendaya as Felicia.

Story specifics remain under wraps, but the film’s teaser trailer notably drew a lot of criticism for its altered art style.
