Showtime has ordered a limited series revival of its famed serial killer drama “Dexter” with star Michael C. Hall set to return.
Hall starred as Dexter Morgan throughout the show’s eight season run, a serial killer who specifically targeted other serial killers while also holding down a job as a blood spatter expert for the Miami Police Department.
Ten episodes have been ordered to begin production early next year for a debut that Fall. Former series showrunner Clyde Phillips is also set to return, but plot details remain under wraps.
The series launched to excellent reviews but petered our creatively even as it remained a solid performer. Overall a lot of love remains for the first, second, fourth and to some extent seventh seasons but the rest is less well regarded and the finale, with Dexter now living under a false identity working for a lumber company in Oregon, has been widely trashed.
