Showtime Cancels “Man Who Fell to Earth”

Showtime has cancelled its series adaptation of “The Man Who Fell to Earth, declining to renew the sci-fi drama.

The series, based on the 1963 novel by Walter Tevis and the 1976 film adaptation starring David Bowie, was originally conceived the drama as a closed-ended limited series but changed to ongoing halfway through making the first season.

The network was reportedly very pleased with the show’s creative elements and felt the season came to a natural and fitting conclusion. The series was originally crafted for the Paramount+ service, but ended up switching to Showtime/

Chiwetel Ejiofor, Naomie Harris, Bill Nighy, Jimmi Simpson and Kate Mulgrew starred in the series which Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet, John Hlavin and Sarah Timberman executive produced.
